ANKOS Library and Information Center Managers Meeting was held on 15-16 November 2013 in Edirne, warmly hosted by Trakya University.
The meeting, which was attended by more than 100 Library Managers, started with a mini concert of Trakya University State Conservatory Orchestra, followed by opening speeches.
Recep Zogo, Head of Library and Documentation Department at Trakya University; ANKOS, who plays an important role in the development of academic libraries in our country, has reached the age of 13 and stated that the agenda of the meeting is intense and participation is high and gave information about the libraries.
ANKOS President Ertugrul Cimen in his opening speech; the main objective of ANKOS, where all university libraries are members, is to act collectively to provide access to electronic resources and to share the cost of broadcasting; that is, the division of the high costs arising from access to information is based on. Grass; He added that thanks to such voluntary formations that are not found in many areas in our country, significant savings have been achieved in national resources and this sharing not only protects the libraries financially, but also contributes to the development of newly established and small-scale libraries.
Rector of Trakya University Prof.Dr. Yener Yörük in his opening speech; He described the library employees as information and book hunters and expressed his satisfaction for hosting the meeting. Yörük stated that the aim of the universities is to reach information, truth and reality and that the library staff are Ali Emîrî Efendi, who pursue Divânu Lügati’t-Türk.
In the General Assembly session; Ertuğrul Çimen (Kadir Has University), Cevat Güven (METU), F. Tuba Akbaytürk Çanak (Koç University), İlkay Holt (Özyegin University), Sami Çukadar (İstanbul Bilgi University), İsmail Çetinkaya (Van Yüzüncü Yıl University) and the new candidate Recep Zogo (Trakya University) were elected as members of the Board of Directors after the approval of the majority of the members who attended the general assembly.
