ANKOS has been established in order to harmonize the license agreements of the electronic information sources that the member institutions plan to subscribe with the Turkish National Site License (TRNSL), and to follow the global developments related to the license agreements to use for the benefit of ANKOS members.

The Public Relations group, which carries out activities to ensure the recognition of ANKOS in Turkey and  at abroad, to create a strong and positive corporate image, also to strengthen communication among Ankos members, to organize ANKOS meetings, conferences and workshops, to follow social media and other communication channels.

User Statistics group carries out studies to make benefit / cost analysis based on the collected numerical data about ANKOS member institutions and usage information about subscribed databases; thus ensuring that ANKOS operates acoording to liable data while carrying out its activities and determining its goals.

Open Access and Institutional Repositories Group, established in 2006, carries out activities to raise awareness among Turkish information professionals in this field, to facilitate cooperation between Ankos, information professionals and researchers on related applications, to work in cooperation with institutions operating in this field both in Turkey and at abroad, and to create the mission of the Open Access and Institutional Archives Working Group (AEKA).


The objective of this group is to inform the member institutions about the efforts made in Turkey and the world on Open Access and Institutional Archives, to ensure as a consortium that member institutions internalize and benefit from the Open Access movement, to create opportunities within their own institutions for dissemination and implementation of open access, to show methods for the related institutions to create their own archives, to cooperate so that the efforts can be carried out in coordination, to keep the educational and auxiliary documents on the ANKOS website, and to ensure these are up-to-date and reliable.

This group carries out activities to raise awareness among information professionals by working on national resource sharing, to prepare a national level resource sharing directive and ANKOS Staff Exchange Program, to manage and develop the KİTS (Interlibrary Cooperation Tracking System) application written to track resource sharing processes between universities’ library / information centers online.

The aim of this group is to increase the practical skills of employees in the field of information services, to emphasize professional expertise, and most importantly, to ensure the realization of competencies. The E-Book Working Group was established with the aim to track the e-book developments in Turkey and in the world, and develop subscription or purchase models by examining the collection and access models of the related publishers in order to meet the electronic information resource needs increasing with the pandemic process of the ANKOS member institutions.
