Anadolu University Libraries Consortium Association (ANKOS) 2nd Regional Meeting Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Dr. Necla Özdemir Conference Hall. Eyüp Yüksel, Head of Library and Documentation Department of Eskişehir Osmangazi University made the opening speech of the meeting and gave information about ANKOS.
Then, ANKOS President Tuba Akbaytürk Çanak, who took the floor, said that they came together with valuable managers working in academic libraries in order to share professional knowledge and experiences on electronic resources, to exchange information, to create new cooperation and common working areas, and to increase professional communication and cooperation.
Speaking at the meeting, Rector. Dr. Hasan Gönen stated that he was very happy to host the meeting and to welcome the valuable participants in ESOGÜ. Gönen states that the modern education approach now leads the students to research and learn and make comments instead of memorizing certain topics and that this education cannot be realized without the modern libraries. depending on developments in the type of services, quality and speed of the increase. Gönen emphasized the necessity of the restructuring of the library sector in order to keep up with these changes and to provide solutions to not only information problems related to printed resources but also information problems related to information resources accessible through the network. “With this awareness, in our university library, which we established in 2004, we are proud and happy to provide 24/7 service to our students, academic and administrative staff and other users by making the most of the opportunities of our time”. Professor Dr. Hasan Gönen ended his speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the organization of the meeting.
Libraries and librarianship development, intercollegiate sharing knowledge, investing in scientific knowledge in Turkey, library budgets, selection of electronic resources, provision and use issues in the meeting discussed the approximately 80 university library / information joined center managers. The meeting ended with the Eskişehir Cultural Tour.
