The ANKOSLink 2025 International Conference<\/strong>, hosted by the Presidential Nation\u2019s Library<\/strong> between November 4\u20136, 2025<\/strong>, brought together the worlds of knowledge, culture, and academia<\/strong> under the theme \u201cLibrary 5.0: Human Re-Centered Digital Transformation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the event, Prof. Dr. Erol \u00d6ZVAR<\/strong>, President of the Council of Higher Education (Y\u00d6K)<\/strong>, delivered the opening speech<\/strong>, while President Recep Tayyip ERDO\u011eAN<\/strong> and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri ERSOY<\/strong> addressed the participants during the closing session<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Y\u00d6K President Prof. Dr. Erol \u00d6ZVAR: \u201cLibraries are centers where knowledge is processed and interpreted.\u201d<\/h3>\n

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Erol \u00d6ZVAR stated that in the digital age, libraries have evolved from being mere repositories of information to dynamic centers where knowledge is processed, interpreted, and given meaning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He noted, \u201cThe concept of Library 5.0 redefines the relationship between people and information. It is no longer merely about digitalization, but about uniting the digital with human values \u2014 combining trust and ethical responsibility in access to knowledge.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Emphasizing the pivotal role of libraries in the digital transformation of the Turkish higher education system<\/strong>, \u00d6ZVAR underlined that university libraries must be at the heart of open science policies and evidence-based decision-making processes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cOur libraries are indispensable institutions for the production, dissemination, and sustainable accessibility of knowledge. This understanding constitutes a cornerstone of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s vision for knowledge-based development.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

President Recep Tayyip ERDO\u011eAN: \u201cWe have a 1,300-year-old tradition in librarianship.\u201d<\/h3>\n

In his closing address, President Recep Tayyip ERDO\u011eAN<\/strong> emphasized that T\u00fcrkiye possesses a deep-rooted civilizational heritage founded upon knowledge and the written word<\/strong>.
\u201cAs members of a faith whose very first command is \u2018Read,\u2019 we stand upon a 1,300-year-old tradition of librarianship,\u201d he said, highlighting the continuity of this legacy from the Umayyads to the Ottomans, and from there to the Republic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Referring to the historical centrality of knowledge and scholars, President ERDO\u011eAN stated:
\u201cFrom the Umayyads to the Abbasids, from the Seljuks to the Ottoman Empire, in every civilization we built, the book and the scholar held a central place. Institutions such as Bayt al-Hikma in Damascus, the Nizamiye Madrasah in Baghdad, and the Karatay and G\u00f6k Madrasahs in Anatolia spread knowledge and wisdom not only to their own eras but to the entire world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWhenever we have valued science, whenever we have embraced books and knowledge wholeheartedly, we have achieved our greatest accomplishments that left their mark on world history.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Touching upon the challenges of the past, he remarked, \u201cGenerations were once distanced from their roots and history; yet, we have succeeded in reconnecting with our heritage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

President ERDO\u011eAN also noted that librarianship in T\u00fcrkiye is experiencing a strong revival<\/strong>, stating:
\u201cOur country has become one that preserves, develops, and adapts its libraries to the demands of the digital age. Together with our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of National Education, universities, and local administrations, we continue to strengthen this legacy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At the conclusion of his speech, the President congratulated ANKOS and the staff of the Presidential Nation\u2019s Library<\/strong> for organizing the conference, wishing that the event would yield beneficial outcomes for T\u00fcrkiye and the library community.<\/p>\n

Following the speeches, ANKOS President \u0130smail \u00c7ET\u0130NKAYA<\/strong> and Ayhan TU\u011eLU<\/strong>, Director of Presidential Libraries, presented President ERDO\u011eAN with a historic document \u2014 the imperial decree (berat) dated March 11, 1845, issued by Sultan Abd\u00fclmecid<\/strong>, appointing Haf\u0131z \u0130smail as the custodian (haf\u0131z-\u0131 k\u00fct\u00fcp)<\/strong> of the Ebu Eyyub al-Ansari Mosque Library<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri ERSOY: \u201cWe are building a T\u00fcrkiye empowered by knowledge through productive and living libraries.\u201d<\/h3>\n

In his address during the closing program, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri ERSOY<\/strong> emphasized that access to knowledge, digital transformation, and human re-centered service principles<\/strong> are integrated within the Library 5.0 vision<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He stated, \u201cThrough the sharing, production, and sustainable management of knowledge, we are transforming our libraries into meeting points of ideas and innovation. We are building a T\u00fcrkiye empowered by knowledge through productive and living libraries.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Hosted by the Presidential Nation\u2019s Library<\/strong>, the ANKOSLink 2025 International Conference<\/strong> concluded after three days of sessions on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, information management,<\/strong> and human re-centered services<\/strong>, serving as a comprehensive forum shaping the future of libraries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
