DSpace is an open source digital institutional archive system developed for academic and non-profit business organizations. In Koha New Zealand, it was started to be developed as open source in 1999 by Kapito Communications Company and a team of volunteers for the Horowhenua Library Trust. Koha, which means \u201cgift\u201d in Maori language, was first used in 2000. Koha is an active, fast developing and well-structured code-based project among open source software. Koha has received awards worldwide for innovation, excellence and non-profit software. Besides its superior features, being free and open source provides an important advantage for libraries in terms of budget.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Developed in Perl language, Koha uses the MySQL or PstgreSQL database and provides access to the database via the Apache web server. Supporting MARC and Z39.50 standards, Koha is used by more than 600 universities, research and public libraries on 6 continents.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Having a modular structure, Koha can be shaped and developed according to library services. Koha; It has modules such as roaming, member, simple and advanced search, virtual shelf creation, cataloging, authority directory, periodicals, provisioning, reporting, management and utilities. It is possible to add new modules to Koha according to library needs.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Translated to a significant amount by Turkish volunteers, Koha has been completely translated into Turkish by S\u00fcleyman Demirel University Library, and current distribution <\/span><\/span>packages also contain Turkish language files.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
