[vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Open Archives Intitiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting \/ OAI-PMH”]It is a protocol that develops and promotes interoperability standards with the object of faciliating the effective dissemination of contents in open archives.\u00a0 OAI-PMH creates potential for interoperabilty amongs the e-print archives and makes it possible to harvest these archive\u2019s metadata on a scannable database, that is, to collect them together. Harvested metadata is set in Dublin Core and includes information such as writers, titles, topics, summary and date. <\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Open Access”]Open access is that scholarly repository is accessable, readable, recordable, duplicable, printable, scannable, indexable, that links to full text, can be transferred into the software as data and can be used for any legal purpose without financial, legal or technical barriers via internet. <\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Open Archives Intitiative \/ OAI”]It is the effort to enhance access to e-print archives as a means of increasing the availability of scholarly communication. Open Archives Intitiative promotes interoperability standards that are aiming to develop to faciliate the effective dissemination of scholarly repository.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Open Access Journal”]Open Access Journals are scholarly journals that are accessable, readable, recordable, duplicable, printable, scannable, indexable, linkable to full text, transferable into the software as data and can be used for any legal purpose without financial, legal or technical barriers via internet. Some of open access journals are subsidised by academic institutions or government, and some need paying by the authors or institutions that provide funds to authorts for studies. It indexes articles on academic publishers, professional associations, prepress collections and universities’ websites.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Hybrid Journal”]A hybrid journal is a journal with some of its articles open access. This typically requires the publisher to pay a certain fee for open access broadcasting. This fee is also called an article processing charge. Some traditional journals offer authors the option to publish freely accessible articles for an additional fee. Authors must pay a fee to publish open access articles in a hybrid journal, or through a funding institution. The publication fee varies according to the publisher and the journal, but it is around 2,000 USD per article.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Self Archiving”]It is the addition of the copies of the researches published in scientific journals and presented in different activities such as congress and conference, and it is opened to an institutional archive and open to public Access.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Institutional Repository”]The institutional digital archive is the system that stores and publishes intellectual outputs such as peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, course materials and thesis to international standards.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”MedOANet Project”]It is a project supported by the 7th Framework Program of the European Commission and aims to develop open access policies and strategies in Mediterranean countries. The main purpose of OpenAIRE is to provide support to researchers in accordance with the 7th Framework Program through a European Help Desk System, and to support researchers to publish their research output in an institutional or thematic archive included in the OpenAIRE Portal.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”OpenAIREPlus Project”]It is a project that aims to strengthen the open access infrastructure in Turkey and is supported by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Program. In other words, it is a copy of the articles that go through the referee evaluation process.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Overlay Journal”]The term Overlay Journal is used for a special type of open access journal with academic content. Overlay journals create added value for science by grouping articles in a scattered environment, providing a comprehensive focus on relatively uncertain or emerging issues. The content of the overlay journals is created by choosing from the pre or final edition journal articles currently available in open archives. Editors of overlay journals review and evaluate materials available in open access archives and public resources. This evaluation can take the form of an editor or editors’ evaluation of an article. After the evaluation, the studies deemed appropriate can take various forms. Its official format is the publication of the article with the explicit consent of the editor. Editor’s approval may be in the form of an attachment to the text or metadata, or linking to the article only through the journal\u2019s table of contents. An alternative approach may be to link to articles currently published in various open access journals.<\/span><\/span>[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”Metadata”]It is a data set that defines an information source.
